Wayford Parish Council

Wayford Parish Council consists of 5 local people and a part time Clerk. Councillors are volunteers and are unpaid. 

The local tier of government is the Parish Council which has responsibility for local issues, including setting an annual precept (local rates) to cover the Parish Council's operating costs and producing annual accounts for public scrutiny. The Parish Council is a consultee for local planning applications and works with the local Police, and Somerset Council Officers on local issues including highways, drainage, footpath and street cleaning. The parish council is also responsible for managing and maintaining the Cemetery and the Allotments in Dunsham Lane.

Wayford Parish Council consists of 5 elected Councillors and a part-time Clerk. Parish Councillors are unpaid volunteers.

Nominations from local residents to serve as councillors are invited every 4 years. If there are more than 5 persons nominated an election will be held on a first past the post system and the 5 people with the highest number of votes will be elected as parish councillors. Vacancies on the parish council are advertised and new councillors can be co-opted to serve for the remainder of the 4 year term.

All councillors agree to abide by the Wayford Code of Conduct and the General Data Protection Regulation. Wayford also maintains a guide to the information which is held by the Parish Council and an IT policy.
